Safety and Security

Your well-being during travel is our top priority. Before your trip even departs, we’ll work with you to understand your individual health and safety needs. And we’ll also ask that you take some precautions related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. (Click here to learn more about our COVD-19 precautions.) To ensure your Off Cape Experience is comfortable, we employ a variety of health, safety and security measures. They include:

Pre-Travel Planning

Health and Medical Forms - We ask that you complete a health and medical form as part of the registration process to ensure that all your on-trip needs are met and to help us prepare for the remote possibility of an emergency.

Pre-Trip Orientation Call and Safety Overview - Before you depart, you can join an optional orientation call with your guides to go over trip details, including safety information, and ask any questions that you have.

Travel Insurance - At Off Cape Experiences, we require that all participants have comprehensive travel insurance, including medical and evacuation coverages. You’ll be asked to provide proof of insurance as part of the registration process.

Highly-Trained and Experienced Team

CPR and Wilderness Medicine Training - All of our founding partners have CPR and basic first-aid certifications. Depending on the trips they lead, some have additional Wilderness First Aid training or will be certified Wilderness First Responders.

Decades of Combined Experience - Our team of travel experts has decades of experience leading travel groups around the world. There are few scenarios they haven’t encountered or problems they haven’t solved.

Local Expertise - In addition to their experience, our founding partners all lead trips in their home countries—in many cases, in the communities where they grew up and still live.

Trusted Partnerships

Cornerstone Safety Group - We partner with Cornerstone Safety Group, a travel industry consultant, for safety and risk management, medical and mental health guidance to further protect the health and safety of our clients.

International SOS - Our staff has access to on-call services from International SOS, a global security firm for the travel industry, in the places we take travelers.

Local Vendors - To ensure our partners meet the highest safety standards, we put our vendors through a comprehensive annual evaluation process that involves an assessment of business licensing, staff training and risk management practices.

Emergency Response Planning

Risk Avoidance - We regularly monitor what’s happening in our destination countries and if we determine that travel is unsafe at any time, we’ll delay or cancel trips to avoid any potential issues.

Site-Specific Planning - Our local knowledge and experience allows us to prepare for emergencies in the countries, cities and communities where we take travelers that are specific to each of those places.

Incident Review and Training - We continually review and evaluate our trips, risk management plans and staff training to ensure we're delivering the safest experiences possible.
